8 Point Lift

8 Point Lift

Q: I am a 53 year-old businesswoman at the prime of my career. I noticed that the skin on my face has started to sag, and it’s making me feel self-conscious in my daily transactions. Is there any way I can bring back the youth of my face without going under the knife?

A: Yes. You can undergo this fairly new technique called the 8-point lift, a minimally-invasive procedure involving multiple filler injections to fill up lost facial volume caused by old age. It uses Hyaluronic (HA) fillers injected on distinct areas of the face, at different consistencies, depending on the extent of sagging in each case. It is the treatment of choice for those with mild to moderate facial sagginess but can’t or don’t want to undergo surgical facelifts.

Q: How will this solve my problem?

A: The filler will subtly lift the middle and lower part of the face, giving it a fuller volume while maintaining a natural look. You can see the results almost immediately after the treatment, and touch-ups can be done on desired areas after two weeks. Also, results can last from 12 to 24 months, depending on the brand of filler used, so you can enjoy your younger looking self for a considerable length of time!

Q: Won’t it affect my day-to-day activities?

A: Barely. The beauty of this procedure is it has very little downtime so there are no restrictions on your daily activities. However, you need to be careful not to rub or massage your face during the first two weeks, as the affected areas are still stabilizing within this period.

Q: What should I expect during the procedure?

A: It should last for about an hour, with very minimal pain involved. This is because the procedure requires the use of a very fine needle, while the filler itself contains local anesthesia that immediately numbs pain.

Of course, you need a very skilled and experienced doctor to do this, one who understands facial anatomy very well; otherwise, you might be exposed to risks when blood vessels, such as arteries and veins on the face are accidentally hit. This is very dangerous because it may not only cause bruising but also partial skin loss and even blindness.

Q: How does this compare to surgical facelifts?

A: It is less invasive and less painful, and involves a shorter procedure and very little downtime. In surgical facelifts, there are some restrictions, such as not being able to go back to doing physically-demanding activities for 3-4 weeks, or not being able to apply makeup within 2 weeks. However, the effect of the 8-point lift lasts for a shorter time than that of a surgical facelift. Also, only surgical facelifts can fix severe sagginess.
